L.A.で高校を卒業後、サンフランシスコのAcademy of Art Universityで写真を学ぶ。
在学中の1995年、全米学生コンテスト「Kodak & Hasselblad Student Showcase」にて1st Prizeを受賞。
その後ニューヨークへ移り、雑誌のエディトリアルを中心に活動しながら、人物表現と世界観構築の感覚を磨き、フォトグラファーとしての基盤を築く。帰国後は、ビューティー、ファッション、セレブリティ領域を軸に、被写体の魅力を最大限に引き出しながら、ブランドが求める品位、存在感、空気感を一枚の中に定着させるビジュアルを手がけている。繊細な肌や質感の表現、光と空気感の設計、ラグジュアリー感の構築に強く、被写体の美しさを高めながらも、ブランドの世界観やメッセージがぶれない画づくりを重視。
広告、エディトリアル、カタログ、プロダクト撮影まで横断的に対応し、キービジュアルとしての強度と、媒体展開における機能性を兼ね備えたイメージ構築を得意とする。雑誌的な感性と広告としての明快さを併せ持ち、ハイエンドな世界観を求める案件から、実用性と展開力が求められるビジュアルまで、一貫したクオリティで応える。人物を美しく撮るだけでなく、その美しさをブランドの価値へと昇華させること。

After graduating from high school in Los Angeles, Takuya Uchiyama studied photography at Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
While still a student, he received 1st Prize at the 1995 Kodak & Hasselblad Student Showcase.  He later moved to New York, where he worked primarily on editorial assignments, refining his approach to portraiture and visual world-building while establishing himself as a photographer.  Since returning to Japan, he has focused on beauty, fashion, and celebrity imagery, creating visuals that not only bring out the full appeal of his subjects, but also convey the sophistication, presence, and atmosphere required by each brand.
He has a particular strength in rendering skin and texture with subtlety, shaping light and atmosphere, and building a sense of luxury while keeping the brand’s visual identity and message clear.
Working across advertising, editorial, catalog, and product assignments, he creates imagery that combines the impact of a strong key visual with the flexibility to function across multiple media platforms.
Balancing editorial sensitivity with commercial clarity, he delivers consistent quality across projects ranging from high-end brand imagery to campaigns that require both visual strength and practical versatility.  More than simply capturing beauty, his work transforms it into brand value.  That is the core of Takuya Uchiyama’s visual language.
